Marbella Cognita is a school for early years through high-school aged students located on a steep site in the coastal town of Marbella, Spain. The project is broken into two building phases, with phase 1 hosting a 7v7 football pitch encased by four bars of program, below four levels splay out emulating a stack of books, phase two is mirrored across a central circulation spline and follows the same massing logic with tennis courts on top and terraced academic program below. Due to the mild Mediterranean climate, each classroom has a large designated terrace space for outdoor learning. The phase one building features a grand stair, multi-use auditorium and dining space, and multiple student lounges that take advantage of the expansive ocean views.
