CAN LUNA

TYPE Private Residence

LOCATION Nassau, The Bahamas

PROGRAM Master suite, 3 guest bedrooms, guest cottage, art gallery, living/dining

STATUS Schematic Design

Can Luna is organized as two distinct volumes linked by a landscaped courtyard. Prioritizing privacy, the design deliberately turns inward, while a richly planted perimeter softens the edges and integrates the home with the surrounding neighborhood.

The family room features a soaring double-height space emphasized wby large windows above. Structural members are explicitly expressed: creating a three dimensional grid intersected and punctuated by floating volumes of the rooms above. The adjacent courtyard planted with palms, bird of paradise, and banana plants enforces the “tropical modern” feel.

CAL designed a 13,000 square foot office interior for Liberty City Ventures in the Union Square neighborhood of Manhattan. The project features a unique mix of entertaining spaces, including a theater room and full spa/gym complex, with traditional office program. The project showcases custom maple millwork throughout, with skylights and abundant natural light making for a serene environment. The concept features a variety of movable partitions and doors, which allows the space to be configured in a variety of ways to accommodate changing office needs and requirements.

Can Luna is a family retreat that centers on the display and experience of fine art. Drawing from the Tropical Modernism of the 1960s, particularly in Brazil, the project balances clean geometric forms, a restrained material palette, and lush tropical landscapes, with carefully composed spaces designed to showcase sculpture and large-scale paintings.
