ONDA, a minimal steel structural frame with a woven cork sun-shade canopy above and fixed cork tables and seating below, was envisioned as a community gathering space in Trafaria - a waterfront town located across the Tagus River from Lisbon. Trafaria currently lacks a cohesive sense of place, however the community and local government are making strides transforming the town into a destination for art, tourism, and design education, with CAL’s pavilion conceived to support this evolution.
