MONTAGE HUDSON VALLEY
TYPE Private Villas / Hospitality
LOCATION Catskill Mountains, New York
PROGRAM 3-5 Bedroom Cabins
SITE AREA 564 Acres
STATUS Schematic Design
The villas are conceived as private retreats, each positioned to minimize visual overlap and maximize immersion in the landscape. Organized as an X-shaped plan, the two-level buildings extend into four wings that lift gently from the ground, creating sheltered outdoor spaces. King bedroom suites are placed at the ends of each wing to ensure privacy, while shared living areas are elevated above and organized around a central sunken den with a fireplace, framed by expansive glazing.
Located within the 500-acre Nevele resort in the Hudson Valley, Montage Hudson Valley reimagines a historic mid-century destination as a contemporary retreat rooted in wellness and immersion in nature. The site is defined by a rich and varied landscape, including a ski slope, lake, old-growth forests, wetlands, a small waterfall, and striking geological formations that recall the work of the Hudson River School painters. These natural assets are carefully restored and maintained to form the primary experience of the resort. Program is introduced with a light touch across the property, including twenty villas, a banya spa, culinary garden, and equestrian fields. Existing historic structures and follies are selectively repurposed to enrich the character of the site, while a future phase will introduce a new hotel on the former building footprint.
